1 Crazy Night By: Liam Darby Well just as Mika Noronen picks up his first win of the season and team goes 1-2 on a odd trip to say the least netting 8 goals while only coughing up 10, vs some of the biggest guns out there. GM Brad Campbell did the unthinkable, trading team Capitan Mike Modano, Starting Center Tim Conolly, Starting Dman Nick Boynton, and a couple of draft pick as well as cash. What did they get back? New Starting Center Steve Bogoyevac, LW Phenomenon Chris Cell, RW Mike Prokopec, some cash and a small colony of 2nd round draft picks. Rumor has it both of the last year rookie tri that turned the Sabrecats from Industrial Waste into the Cinderella team, were shopped around, however, as it was figured GM Campbell knew better then to let the heart soul of this team go. Capitan Mike was struggling, Conolly had just turned things around as had Boynton, but it appears it was to little to late. In Mike Prokopec the team gets RW help they so badly needed when starter Donald Audette went down with his knee injury. It was heart breaking to see the team at a complete loss. Now a new question arises, what about when Audette comes back? Well it seems clear that Mike Prokopec 800k a year salary seems to be hard to think that Audette could keep his starting job. So the next question is, who's headed down? Rick Enrico and Dean Richards are 2 younger talented players, but the team seems set with Wayne Primeau as the reserve. That means 1 of them is headed to the farm in about a week. My money is on the rookie Richards he has played hard, but lacks some of the experience a proven leader like Enrico brings. Onto Chris Cell, the Sabrecats put all they had into getting Cell who was a FA this past off-season and after Campbell made the deal he Cell couldn't refuse, Toronto matched the offer and the hopes of adding the Goal scoring Machine seemed over. Then last night a dream the team landed Cell and a 2nd round pick for Modano and some cash. Cell a star in all sense of the word could be the missing piece of the puzzle. Now as for Campbell had going through his mind as he traded Tim Conolly for Steve Bogoyevac? Here was his answer, "Steve is a fine young star much like another very gifted Center on this team Jaimie Ling. What was I thinking? Bogoyevac might not have the scoring gifts that Tim did, but he is younger and I feel he can help this team make the change and get back in the hunt. Plus with the draft picks we add next season this team could easily be right yup their among the favorites." Now not everyone was happy about this. Here is what coach Marois had to say on the matter, "This is insane the team was finally coming together and trade 3 of the top 5 players on the team. Now yes Tok has been a blessing the likes of which no one could have seen, but we as a whole are hurting now. I was more then pleasantly stunned to hear that we add Chris (Cell). However, was it worth it? Well Mr. Campbell we will have to wait and see." I'm not sure what other fun surprises still lay ahead, but it should be 1 wild ride. Now something new, my final thoughts: 1. Why gather all these 2nd round pic after having deal the possible 1st overall pick for Conolly? Can the Sabrecats truly rally back and turn this season around? 2. When will the Sabrecats next hold a 1st round pick at the actually draft? 3 years and it has been traded all 3 times, for Trinka, cash and ?What? they got Steve Bogoyevac and a 2nd. This team needs to stay out of the red this year save that pick and prove they can do all they claim to. 3. When will the cat fight of Marc T. vs J. Nameth end? We enter a new and exciting round 25 today, and the only question I have now is, what in god's name started this in the first place??? 4. For the love of god don;t let there be another strike, sign my starving players, don't hold yourselves on pride. Money isn't everything, it's all about the game. :] (hehe) 5. The Big E - not Eric Lindros Expansion, we have seen expansion breed chaos in resent years look at Tokyo and Las Vegas, surely we don't need to further deplete the talent pool which is slowly running dry. I see no good in this, no good at all. Stop the madness and praise the Sabrecats. {buy season tickets now!}
